Set Up Parental Controls on Your Fire Tablet
Restrict access to shopping, downloading content, and settings on your device.
Note: Parental Controls are designed to restrict access on an adult profile for users 13 and older. For children under 13, visit our page
Create a Child Profile to learn how to make your Fire Tablet kid-friendly. Child Profile settings contain a range of features for managing your child's tablet use.
To restrict access on another profile:
- Swipe down twice from the top of the screen to show Quick Settings.
- Tap the Settings icon.
- Select Profile and Parental Controls.
- Set Restrict access to current profile to On.
- Enter and confirm your password. Make sure that you record your password.
Note: Your parental controls password is different from your lock screen password.
- Select Finish.
A lock icon appears at the top of the screen when parental controls are turned on.
If you forget your parental controls password, you have to reset your Fire tablet to factory defaults to restore full access. For instructions, go to our page Factory Reset Your Fire Tablet.
