Set Up Your Echo Sub

For richer sound quality, pair your Echo Sub to a supported Echo device, Stereo Pair, or with an Alexa Home Theater.

Before setting up Echo Sub, make sure that you have a supported Echo device is already set up on your Amazon account. Verify it's online in the Alexa app.

  1. Place your Echo Sub on the floor in the same room as your Echo speakers or home theater.
  2. Open the Alexa app .
  3. Select Devices .
  4. Select the plus icon.
  5. Select Add Device.
  6. Select Amazon Echo, and then Echo Sub.
  7. Plug in your device.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions in the Alexa app to complete setup.
    1. If you're trying to add your Echo Sub to an existing speaker set, delete the speaker set first.
    2. If you're trying to set up an Alexa Home Theater, do not pair the Echo sub to a speaker during initial setup. Navigate to your Fire TV and follow the Alexa Home Theater setup instructions to add the Echo Sub. For more information, go to Set Up Alexa Home Theater on Your Fire TV.
