Turn Sunrise Alarms On or Off on Your Echo Devices with a Screen

To turn sunrise alarms on or off, use your Echo device's on-screen settings.

Note: Settings menu items for the Echo Hub and Echo Show 5 (all generations) may vary, and those devices will receive a software update soon.

When enabled, your Echo device's screen gradually brightens 15 minutes before your alarm sounds. You're able to set a sunrise alarm between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. Sunrise alarms are enabled by default on some devices.

  1. Say, "Go to Settings," or go to the device settings on your Echo Show:
    • If you're using Alexa+, select the Menu icon on your screen, and then select Settings.
    • If you're using the original Alexa, swipe down from the top of the screen and select Settings.
  2. Select Display & Appearance, then select Display.
  3. Select on or off for the Sunrise Effect.
