Pending Charges for Canceled Orders

Sometimes the value of a canceled order is shown on your card balance.

When you place an order with Amazon, we may contact your payment card's issuing bank to confirm that your credit card has a valid number, and hasn't been reported as lost or stolen. This is communicated by an authorization of the full order amount. However, we don't proceed with the charge until your items ship, or for five days, whichever comes first. This is a security measure to protect our customers.

If you cancel your order before being charged, the bank may hold the authorization on your card for up to 10 business days.

If you've been charged for an item, refunds can take up to seven business days to post to your bank account.
