Ultrasound Motion Detection Isn't Working as Expected
How to troubleshoot if a routine or service using ultrasound motion detection isn't working.
- Make sure that your device isn't on mute.
- Make sure that your Occupancy Routine is active. In the Alexa app, open More and select Routines, then find your occupancy routine.
- Let your routine reset its Presence state by preventing interaction with your Echo device for at least 30 minutes. Make sure that your microphone is off.
- Background noise in the room, including music playing on your Echo device or other speakers, can impact Ultrasound Motion Detection accuracy.
- Make sure that there’s nothing near the device that blocks the ultrasound and interferes with the device’s ability to detect people.
- Move your device closer to where you expect motion to occur.
- Ultrasound Motion Detection best perceives "major" motion, such as a person walking. "Minor" motion, such as reading a book or working at a computer, may not register as occupancy.
- Make sure that Ultrasound Motion Detection is on. In the Alexa App, check the device settings for your Echo device.
