About Import Fees Deposit and Import Charges

When you order products from Amazon Global, Amazon Global Store or from a third-party Seller and their products are Fulfilled by Amazon, taxes, customs duties, and fees ("Import Fees") may apply, and their payment is your solely responsibility as the importer (i.e. customer). In these cases, to facilitate customs clearance for you, an estimated "Import Fees Deposit" and/or fixed "Import Charges" (as defined below) may be levied in relation to the items in your order, depending on the product origin and the shipping destination. Carriers or agents use these funds to pay Import Fees on your behalf to the competent Customs authorities.

Calculating Fees

Note: Global store orders placed to the Republic of Ireland are not subject to import fees as the goods are sourced from Amazon EU.

The amount of actual Import Fees charged by Customs authorities may vary depending on multiple factors. These include Customs regulations in the given destination, the product category and price, and the shipping method selected.

When you add product(s) to your basket and then change the delivery destination, shipping method, and/or your basket contents, this may result in Import Fees Deposit(s) and/or Import Charges being applied or in changes to the amount(s) of any Import Fees Deposit(s) and/or Import Charges which already applied. If so, the total price of each product in your basket will change to reflect the amount of Import Fees Deposit or Import Charges that applies to that product.

Import Fees Deposit

The Import Fees Deposit is an amount charged for your order at checkout and corresponds to an estimate of the Import Fees payable to the Customs authorities for one or more items in your order. It may not represent the actual amount of Import Fees paid or to be paid to the Customs authorities. When the actual Import Fees are less than the Import Fees Deposit that you paid when you placed your order, you'll automatically be refunded the difference to the payment method you used for the order. You'll receive a notification email confirming the amount of the refund. The refunds will be processed upon receipt of the carrier invoices confirming the actual Import Fees. If carrier invoices are not received within 180 days from the ship date, you will receive a refund for the full amount of Import Fees Deposit paid.

Import Charges

Import Charges are a fixed amount that we charge in order to cover all customs-related processes and costs applicable to one or more items in your order, including the payment on your behalf of Import Fees to Customs authorities. Import Charges may not represent the actual amount of Import Fees paid to Customs authorities.

You will not be refunded if the Import Charges are greater than the actual amount of Import Fees paid to the Customs authorities, and we will not ask you to make any additional payment if such amount is greater than the Import Charges you have paid.

Import Fees Deposit Refunds

When the actual import fees are less than the import fees deposit we estimated, you'll automatically be refunded the difference to the payment method you used for the order. You will receive a notification email confirming the amount of the refund. The refunds will be processed as and when we receive courier invoices confirming the actual import fees. If courier invoices are not received by 180 days from the ship date, you will receive a refund for the full amount of import fees deposit paid.
