Home Monitoring
What Features Does Home Monitoring Support?
- With home monitoring enabled on your device, you can use the camera of your Echo Show as a smart home camera.
- Securely view the camera feed remotely from the Alexa app or other connected devices linked to your Amazon account.
- With Echo Show, you can set up routines that trigger when the device camera detects people nearby.
How Do I Use Live View?
Once you turn on Home Monitoring on an Echo Show device, you can view that device's live camera feed remotely. The device you use to watch the Live View doesn't require Home Monitoring.
To see a Live View in the Alexa app:
- Open Devices
.
- Select your Echo Show device.
To see a live view on Echo Show devices, or with Alexa-supported Fire TV devices:
- Just say, "Alexa, show me [device name]."
When viewing the live camera feed, pinch the screen to zoom in or out. In camera feeds from an Echo Show 10 (3rd Generation), swipe left or right to rotate the device toward different parts of the room.
For additional privacy, use the Camera settings on your Echo Show to hear a chime every time the camera feed is accessed. You can also turn on a video delay to blur out the first few seconds of video feed.
Use Routines with Home Monitoring on Your Echo Show
With Home Monitoring enabled on your Echo Show, you can configure Routines that trigger when a person is nearby. For example, you can have Alexa turn on smart devices when someone walks into a room.
To set up occupancy routines:
- Open the Alexa app.
- Open More
and then select Routines.
- While setting up a Routine, for When this happens, choose Smart Home and select your Echo Show device from the list.
- Choose your routines action and complete the setup.
