Image tagging in Amazon Photos helps you to search and find photos easily, and keep your photo library organized.
Amazon Photos allows you to sort and search your photos by people, objects, actions, and scenes. We use image recognition technology to analyze and apply tags to your photos and videos. Our tagging features consist of the "Tag Photos" and "Tag Specific People" features. In addition to these features, we use image analysis to perform basic formatting and image selection, such as fitting photos to your screen and ensuring appropriate photos show up on devices like Fire TV.
Tag Photos
When switched on, Tag Photos allows Amazon Photos to tag your photos and videos with keywords describing objects, actions, scenes, and other things in your photos. For example, you can search for "happy," "car," "beaches," "smiles," and more. This allows you to find and organize your photos by these keywords. These keyword tags also help Amazon Photos select the best photos to show in your automatically curated Memories like "This Day through the years," "Best of year," "Best of season," and more.
Tag Specific People
When switched on, Tag Specific People allows Amazon Photos to automatically group similar faces in your photos and videos. Naming the loved ones in your face groups lets you search for them individually. This also allows the creation of memories like "Mom and Kids through the years", "This Day through the years," "Best of year," "Best of season," "Together," and more based on your people tags and the approximate age and gender of people in the photos. Amazon will collect, store, and use records of individual faces to enable these and similar features.
Image Tags and Data
We retain image recognition data relating to the photos and videos that you store using our services until you turn off the applicable tagging feature or your account is closed. If you turn off a tagging feature, we will stop storing those tags for you, and we will not tag any new photos or videos uploaded to your account. You may enable or disable the tagging features any time through your account settings.
