Turn Adaptive Listening On or Off
With Adaptive Listening, you have more time to finish speaking before Alexa starts to respond - a setting designed for those who benefit from a slower conversational pace.
Note: Settings menu items for
the Echo Hub and Echo Show 5 (all generations) may vary, and those devices will receive a software update soon.
To turn Adaptive Listening on or off from the Alexa app:
- Open the Alexa app
. - Open More
. - Select Settings
. - Select Accessibility.
- Select Adaptive Listening Mode.
- Select the device or devices that you want to use Adaptive Listening mode on.
You can also turn Adaptive Listening on or off from your Echo device's settings.
- Say, "Go to Settings," or go to the device settings on your Echo Show:
- If you're using Alexa+, select the Menu
icon on your screen, and then select Settings
. - If you're using the original Alexa, swipe down from the top of the screen and select Settings
.
- If you're using Alexa+, select the Menu
- Select Accessibility.
- Turn Adaptive Listening on or off.
Note: Turning on Adaptive Listening may slow down the pace of your conversation.
