Create a Child Profile on Your Kindle E-Reader

Set up a child profile for Amazon Kids to protect your child from inappropriate content.

If your compatible Kindle is in Amazon Kids, go to the menu, select Exit Amazon Kids, and enter your parental controls pin to add another child profile.

  1. From the Home screen, select the Menu icon.
  2. Select Parental Controls, then select Amazon Kids.
  3. Select Add New Profile or Add Kid Profile.
  4. Enter your parental controls pin code, if needed, then the child’s name and birthday.
  5. Select Next and add any content from your own library that you want to include in the child’s library.
  6. Review the child’s profile and reading settings, then select Done.

Note: Kindle Scribe doesn’t support Child Profiles at this time, but you can set a parental control PIN to manually lock the web browser, Kindle and Audible stores, Cloud content and/or Goodreads on Kindle.

To create a parental control PIN:

  1. From the home screen, swipe down to open the Quick Actions or select Menu.
  2. Select Settings or All Settings.
  3. Go to Your/My account and select Parental control.
  4. Select Parental control PIN and follow the steps on the screen to enter and save a parental control PIN.
