Does Amazon collect data when I watch broadcast live TV on my Fire TV Edition television? Why?

Amazon software collects information relating to your use of broadcast (terrestrial, satellite or cable) TV content transmitted through the TV's RF inputs which may include the name of the channel watched, the name of the program watched, and the viewing.

Yes. To opt out of providing information to Amazon on your use of broadcast (terrestrial, satellite, or cable) TV content received directly through your TV's RF inputs, please visit Settings > Preferences > Privacy Settings of your Fire TV Edition television. Turning off this setting may affect our ability to personalize your experience.

How does the third party data collection related to HbbTV functionality work and how can I disable it?

The HbbTV functionality is a third-party functionality in the EU that enables broadcast services providers to offer you interactive services when you watch their programs. When you use these third-party broadcast services with the HbbTV functionality being enabled, the broadcast service providers may collect, retain and use certain data (for example, your IP address). Please refer to the privacy policies of the relevant broadcast service providers for more information. You can disable the HbbTV feature functionality or configure HbbTV settings in the Settings menu of your Fire TV Edition television.
